Businesses can sometimes raise capital by selling owned equipment to lessors and then leasing the same equipment back. When lessors consider sale/leasebacks, an equipment appraisal by a recognized appraiser is generally required at the lessee’s expense. Generally, lessor’s will offer the auction value, or less, as the buying price for the equipment to be sold and leased back.
